~~My very 1st sketch: Jan 1991

This is a sketch of Shobha De -a columnist and famous novelist. Drew this looking at a stamp size pic from her Times of India column. Was trying to study for a mid term and being highly distracted at that moment started scribbling on the back of my graph book - started off by just drawing her eyes at first. Didn't quite get the hair right - didn't have the patience to draw each strand of hair as it should be :)

~~"Hiawatha": June 1992

Hiawatha: A native American on a wild horse praying to the rain gods. Saw this tiny B/W photograph in an encylopedia and was instantly inspired to sketch it.

~~"Victorian lady in a mirror": April '93

Just something from my imagination. If a sketch takes more than 20 mins to wrap up I usually lose interest in it so all my sketches are mostly simple broad strokes.

~~"Lady" : Sept, 1992

My idea of a perfect face when I was a little girl. Don't remember why I put a towel on her left shoulder :)

~~"Just a girl" : '92

Another sketch from my imagination.

~~"Folk women": 94

Again a rough sketch of something I created to eventually make an oil painting of.

~~"Man on a boat"

Scenery sketches are not my forte...inspired by a friend's sketch - stroke by stroke.

~~"Raveena Tandon"

Drew this by recollecting how Raveena looked in one of her songs from one of her earlier movies. Thought she was quite pretty at that time.

~~"The dress"

I drew this in the 10th std to show my mom what kind of a dress I wanted for the fashion show contest. The sketch was much appreciated but not the length of the dress.

The outfit that my mom finally picked up for me was an ankle length version of the one in the sketch :)

~~"Village woman":

Saw this on the backside of a Reader's Digest ...was from some famous artist (I forget the name)

~~"Colgate Ad girl"

A girl I saw in a TV ad for Colgate toothpaste -My first and only water color stint.

~~"My Mum" :

This was inspired from a black n white photograph of my mum's when she was just 21. Could not capture how beautiful she actually looked in the photograph.

~~"Young Jagjit Singh":

Saw this pic on the cover of a music cassette. The artist was young Jagjit Singh.
